Lighting Symposium 2026
Sensing Light

With the theme “Sensing Light”, LS2026 examines how emerging technologies, perceptual insights, architecture, engineering and creative practices can work together to redefine the future of lighting. By linking measurable metrics with lived experience, we aim to bridge scientific precision with sensory understanding. This symposium encourages discussions that integrate photometric and non-visual metrics, multisensory interaction, digital sensing, emotional perception, ecological impact, and cultural meaning.
Hosted at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen Campus from 23 to 25 September 2026, the Light Symposium 2026 will explore how sensing light can generate new ways of designing for people, places, and the planet. We invite participants to challenge normative standards, question what and how we measure, and propose lighting strategies shaped by both data and perception. Together, we can learn how sensing light allows us not only to quantify performance, but to cultivate environments that support well-being, equity, biodiversity, and planetary care.
